French Bulldog Interesting facts

It is believed that the breeding legacy of French Bulldogs originated from Ancient Greece.
They hate being shouted at or disciplined. French Bulldogs are very sensitive by their nature, they love to please people and will, if treated properly, do absolutely anything for their owner. As a result, they can become very upset if someone shouts at them. They react strongly to being told they’ve don’t something wrong.
French Bulldogs have two very distinctive ear shapes – rose and bat-shaped. While the big bat-eared, pig-faced cuties make for splendid photography and are exceedingly popular in other countries, the most common that you’ll see in the UK is the rose-shaped ear.
They are a ‘talkative’ breed and love holding doggy conversations with people they love. If you spare some time to give your Frenchie a little chat, you might find them very animated and talking right back at you. That being said, they do not bark or yap as many other smaller breeds of dogs do. However they are prone to wheezing and backwards sneezes, and have been known to bark incessantly at strangers due to their protective streak.
Because they are a brachycephalic breed (more on that later) French Bulldogs need to be given extra attention in heated environments such as trains and planes.
They can’t swim. Like at all. There are a few Frenchies out there that are capable of holding their own in water, but on the whole this is a breed that is not built for swimming. They should only be around water with full supervision and never anywhere with strong currents. If you want to take your doggo for a swim, invest in a life-jacket. Trust me it’ll put your mind at ease.
In 2009 at Twycross Zoo in Leicestershire, a 9-year-old Frenchie called Bugsy adopted a baby orangutan called Malone, until he was old enough to join the mature orangutans.
They are popular with celebrities. Reese Witherspoon has Pepper, Hugh Jackman has Dali, Lady Gaga has three Frenchies; Miss Asia, Koji and Gustavo, and Travis Barker has a whopping four Frenchies; Fudge, Blue, Biggy and Elvis. Additionally Dwayne The-Rock Johnson and Hobbs have also owned French Bulldogs. The list goes on and on and includes far too many to list here.
